Assistant Directors (Cost) to Boost Internal Audit in Central Excise for Units with Duty Over Rs. 5 Crores.
The circular addresses the need for the increased utilization of Assistant Directors (Cost) in the internal audit of large units within the Central Excise Department. It highlights the importance of professional expertise in the newly developed Selective Audit System, Audit Manual, and Audit Protocol. The Board has decided that Assistant Directors (Cost) should be involved in auditing major multi-locational units or complex transactions, especially where Central Excise duty exceeds Rs. 5 crores. Commissionerates without an Assistant Director (Cost) can request their services from the Chief Commissioner, who will allocate them for a minimum of seven working days per month.
