India Exempts Raw Cashewnut Imports from PHA Order Requirement for Re-Processing and Export under Customs Act, 1962.
The Government of India, through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, has decided to exempt the import of raw cashewnuts from the requirement of a PHA release order, as mandated by the PFA Act, 1954. This decision follows consultations with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Revenue. The exemption applies to raw cashewnuts intended for re-processing and export. Customs Authorities will release these consignments on a Customs Bond for re-processing, as outlined in Clause (I) of Section 143 of the Customs Act, 1962. This directive is approved by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
