New Circular Clarifies Export Policy for Silver Jewellery Under Exim Policy 2002-2007; Excludes Studdings from Silver Content Calculation.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade issued a circular clarifying the export policy for silver jewellery under the Exim Policy 2002-2007. It specifies that exports of silver jewellery, including partly processed items, silver wire, strips, and articles with over 50% silver by weight, qualify for benefits under the Gem & Jewellery Scheme. The circular addresses a suggestion regarding the calculation of silver content, confirming that the weight of studdings should be excluded when determining the silver percentage. This clarification was made in consultation with relevant departments and approved by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
