India's Marble Import Guidelines: Licensing Required for Rough Marble; Restrictions, Floor Prices, and Eligibility Detailed.
The circular outlines the guidelines for importing rough marble blocks and slabs in India, as per EXIM Codes 251511 00, 251512 00, and 251520 02. Import of these items is restricted and requires licensing, which is overseen by the EXIM Facilitation Committee. Eligible applicants include manufacturers with prior imports, 4/5 star hotels, and renowned places of worship, subject to recommendations from relevant ministries. Licenses have a floor price of US$300 per metric tonne for crude marble and US$450 for slabs, and are limited to 50% of the CIF value of imports from 1999-2001. License holders must file monthly import returns.
