<h1>Textile Import Rules: Exemption for Export Production, Labels, and Tags Under Paragraph 5.40 and Notification No. 17/2001.</h1> The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade clarifies that conditions on the import of textiles and textile articles, as outlined in paragraph 11 of Notification no.3 (RE-2001)/1997-2002, do not apply to imports intended exclusively for export production. This exemption is applicable under paragraph 5.40 of the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.I, 1997-2002, which allows the import of labels, price tags, and printed bags without a license, and under Sl. No. 130 of Notification no. 17/2001-customs, which permits duty-free import of such items by bona fide exporters.
