of <h1>New DGFT Circular: CKD/SKD Consumer Durables Imports Unrestricted if Listed as Freely Importable in ITC(HS) 1997-2002.</h1> The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade clarifies the import policy for consumer durables, including automobiles, in Completely Knocked Down (CKD) or Semi Knocked Down (SKD) conditions. It states that such imports are permitted without restrictions if the specific item is already listed as freely importable in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items for 1997-2002. For instance, table fans, identified by Exim Code No. 84145101, are freely importable, and thus, their CKD/SKD or ready-to-assemble versions can also be imported freely. This clarification is issued with the approval of the Director General of Foreign Trade.
