of <h1>DGFT mandates 8-digit ITC(HS) code on shipping bills and license applications for export benefits from October 1, 2000.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has mandated the inclusion of an 8-digit ITC(HS) code on all shipping bills and license application forms starting October 1, 2000. While exports without the code will not be stopped by Customs, no export benefits will be granted in such cases. To assist importers and exporters in identifying the correct code, a database is available on the DGFT website, and inquiries can be made via email or by contacting regional licensing authorities. Importers and exporters can also reach out to their respective Export Promotion Councils for further assistance.
