Oil & Gas Supplies Now Count as Deemed Exports for EPCG Obligations if Licensed by March 31, 2000.
The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade addresses the fulfillment of export obligations under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme through deemed exports, as specified in paragraph 6.5(iv) of the Exim Policy. Initially, the policy excluded supplies to the oil and gas sector from being considered as deemed exports. However, following representations from exporters, it was decided that supplies to the oil and gas sector could count towards fulfilling export obligations under an EPCG license, provided the license was issued on or before March 31, 2000. This decision was approved by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
