RBI Allows DTA Units to Credit Foreign Payments to EEFC Account for Supplies to SEZ Units under FEMA 1999.
The Reserve Bank of India issued a circular allowing payments received in foreign exchange by units in Domestic Tariff Areas (DTA) for supplying goods to units in Special Economic Zones (SEZ) to be credited to the Exchange Earners' Foreign Currency (EEFC) Account. This change, effective from the date of the circular, aligns with the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) regulations. Authorized dealers are instructed to inform their clients and are reminded that these directions are issued under FEMA 1999. Amendments to the relevant regulations will be notified separately.
