of <h1>Indian Finance Ministry Transfers SC Cases on Customs, Excise, Service Tax to CBEC Legal Section Effective July 15, 2004.</h1> The Government of India's Ministry of Finance has issued a circular stating that all Supreme Court cases related to Customs, Central Excise, or Service Tax, except those from CESTAT orders, will be transferred from the Customs VI and Anti-Smuggling Sections to the Legal Section of the Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) effective July 15, 2004. This decision modifies previous circulars and requires future communications on these matters to be directed to the Joint Secretary (Legal) or Director (Legal) of the CBEC. The circular requests acknowledgment of receipt and indicates a Hindi version will be provided.
