Customs Officers' Overtime Fees Scrapped; 24/7 Schedule Introduced for Cargo Supervision at Dock Gates.
The circular addresses the issue of overtime fees charged by Customs officers for services beyond normal working hours or outside the Customs area. It acknowledges concerns from the trade sector about the unjustified costs and paperwork resulting from the current overtime fee system. The government has decided to discontinue the collection of overtime fees for officers supervising cargo movement at dock gates. Instead, a 24/7/365 working schedule for Customs at these gates will be implemented. The Commissioner of Customs is authorized to set these working hours, and no overtime fees should be charged once this schedule is in place.
