Income Tax Work Allocation: CIT(DRs) Handle Complex Cases, Sr. DRs Manage Others After Cadre Restructuring Approval.
The circular outlines the work allocation between Commissioners of Income Tax (Departmental Representatives) [CIT(DRs)] and Senior Departmental Representatives (Sr. DRs) following a cadre restructuring approved by the Union Cabinet. CIT(DRs) will handle appeals involving search/block assessments, special or third-member benches, orders under section 263, cases with significant additions, scam-related cases, and other complex cases as deemed by the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT). Sr. DRs will manage all other cases. The CCIT may reassign cases in exceptional circumstances. Both CIT(DRs) and Sr. DRs must submit monthly performance reports on their case representations.
