of <h1>HUF PPF accounts closed before Dec 7, 2010, to receive interest if matured post-May 13, 2005.</h1> Interest at the Public Provident Fund (PPF) rate will be paid on PPF accounts held by Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) that matured after May 13, 2005, but were closed by subscribers before December 7, 2010. Initially, PPF accounts for HUFs were permitted until May 13, 2005, after which only individual accounts were allowed. An amendment in December 2010 required the closure of matured HUF accounts. Some accounts closed between these dates did not receive interest for deposits retained post-maturity. The Ministry has decided to pay interest on such accounts, provided they were not extended and had no further subscriptions.
