A request to honorable PM, FM, CBDT request on behalf of tax payers and tax practioners/ return preparers

Honorable Finance Minister , and CBDT are requested to announce extension of last date which is 31.08.2026 to file ITR ( non-audit cases) immediately and do not keep tax payers and return preparer under pressure till last moment- there are valid reasons for extension.

Heavy rainfalls an flood like situations have been faced in various parts of country since last week of July 2026 and situation is continuing. Unpredictable changes in weather are also being faced like heavy rains, thunder storms and lightening.

These are causing disturbance in electricity and internet facilities causing difficulties in carrying work.

Heavy and unexpected rain falls are expected in various parts of country during period from 28.08.2026 to 02.09.2026 as per National Weather Forecasting Centre in published report of 27.08.2026 in evening of that day. Electricity interruption

Internet interruption and slow speed.

Dependency and essentiality for ITD Portals:

Although we have experience substantial improvement during working on ITD portal but still problems arises and sometimes data are not saved, data are damaged / corrupted and one has to refill data.

Slow working on portal is normal feature may be due to weather conditions and low speed of internet.

Now-a-days there is more essentiality and dependency on ITD portals for various reports in form and reports like 26AS , TIS and AIS.

It is desirable to reconcile all information with information available on portals of ITD.

Many forms and Return of Income are to be uploaded.

Damages of documents partially prepared and saved is also a problem. Many time data are corrupted or vanished as informed by some practioners.

Obtaining information and documents from these portals is not easy and has become more time consuming and more uncertain. Many times pages are not opening.

Lengthy forms of ITR

Forms of ITR are very lengthy and many information sought are not result oriented. For example information of unquoted shares held, although there is no transaction and no impact on income. Information to divide dividend income and capital gains in periodical manner to be divided in 4 or 5 time sets.

Dividend is not a significant income ( except few assesses) now TDS is also applied, therefore there is no need to ask for details of dividend till four dates related with advance tax. However, filling these details require lot of time.

These information are not required in cases where there is no advance tax liability. These are just examples. Forms need thorough review to minimize information to be furnished without impacting revenue adversely and with a view to be result oriented.

Difficulties with accounting software's:

Accounting software are also facing problem and reduced speed due to varying and slow internet speed, technical glitches ,networking issues etc. these are causing data becoming unreliable due to late updating in some of computers within the network.

Uploading of documents is also difficult and time consuming.

All over India people are facing problems due to weather conditions and uncertainties, these are also causing health problems to concerned people and their near and dear.

In view of above request is being made to all concerned to act promptly and announce extended dates for filing of ITR for which last date u.s. 139.1 is 31.08.2026 immediately and not to keep all concerned under pressure.
