          <h1>Wealth tax rules: Settlement Commission adopts 1997 procedure rules, superseding 1987 rules, effective on Gazette publication.</h1> The Settlement Commission promulgated the Wealth-tax Settlement Commission (Procedure) Rules, 1997, superseding the 1987 Procedure Rules while preserving prior acts or omissions, and provided that the rules are titled as such and come into force on publication in the Wealth-tax Official Gazette, with the 4 July 1997 notification serving as the official adoption under the Commission's rulemaking authority.
