Central Government power to relax Post Office Monthly Income Account Rules for depositors facing undue hardship, by reasoned order
The Central Government may, by a reasoned written order, relax compliance with any requirement of the Post Office (Monthly Income Account) Rules, 1987 where it is satisfied that the operation of that requirement causes undue hardship to a depositor, provided the relaxation is not inconsistent with the governing Act. The operative effect is to confer a discretionary, case-specific power to grant relief from strict application of the Rules to mitigate undue hardship, subject to recorded reasons and consistency with the Act.
