Promisee discretion to remit or accept substitute performance permits discharge of obligations and extension of time. A promisee may wholly or partly remit or dispense with a promise, extend the time for performance, or accept substituted satisfaction; acceptance of such substituted performance or composition, whether from the promisor or a third party and even if the debt amount is unascertained, operates to discharge the original obligation to the extent accepted.
