<h1>National Savings Certificate payout after holder's death without nomination, up to ?1 lakh allowed without probate within three months</h1> Where a holder of a National Savings Certificate dies without a nomination in force and, within three months of death, no probate, letters of administration, or succession certificate is produced, payment of the amount due may be made without such documents if the aggregate sum due on all such certificates held by the deceased does not exceed ?1,00,000. In such cases, the competent postal authority may pay the amount to a person appearing entitled to receive it or to administer the deceased's estate, with sanctioning competence allocated by monetary limits from ?1,000 up to ?1,00,000 across specified levels of post office officials, culminating at the Chief Postmasters General/Postmasters General level.
