Mine exemption rules limit Code coverage for prospecting and minor mineral workings, with notice and government override powers. The Code does not apply to specified mines or parts of mines used only for prospecting excavation, or to mines extracting listed minor minerals and materials, subject to limits on employment, depth, superjacent ground, and use of explosives. The employer must give electronic notice to the Inspector-cum-Facilitator within seven days when an establishment becomes a mine. The Central Government may by written order direct that all provisions of the Code apply to any such mine or part thereof, subject to conditions.
