Plantation safety duties require dust control, protective equipment, and restricted entry until harmful fumes are removed. Employer of every plantation must take necessary steps to minimise harmful dust and provide employees handling pesticides, insecticides, chemicals and toxic substances with appropriate protective clothing and personal protective equipment free of charge. The protective clothing must resist penetration, be washable, and include a protective outer garment with hat, rubber gloves, dust-proof goggles, rubber boots and reusable cloth masks. No employee may enter any workplace or confined space until practicable measures remove noxious smells and bring harmful levels within permissible limits.
