Labour law consolidation under the occupational safety code replaces multiple sector-specific rules with nationwide commencement on publication. The Central Government has notified the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026 under sections 133 and 134 of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, after considering objections and suggestions to the draft rules. The rules extend to the whole of India and come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. They supersede several earlier labour and welfare rules, subject to savings for things done or omitted before supersession.
