of <h1>Amendment to Income-tax Act Section 35: New Proviso Mandates Feasibility Report for Scientific Research Approvals. Effective October 1996.</h1> In the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1996, an amendment to section 35 of the Income-tax Act is made in sub-section (2AA). The amendment replaces the existing provisos with a new proviso effective from October 1, 1996. This new proviso requires the prescribed authority to ensure the feasibility of conducting scientific research before granting approval. The authority must submit a report in a prescribed form to the Director General.
