of <h1>Depositories Must Ensure AI Tools Secure Investor Data Under Regulation 82AA, Effective February 2025.</h1> Regulation 82AA of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 2018, mandates that depositories using artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, whether developed internally or sourced externally, are solely responsible for ensuring the privacy, security, and integrity of investors' and stakeholders' data. They are also accountable for the outputs generated by these tools and must comply with all applicable laws. The regulation covers AI and machine learning applications used for trading, settlement, compliance, and other business activities, effective from February 6, 2025.
