Taxpayers Must Declare Information Directly in Return u/s 139; Written Declaration No Longer Required.
Section 115-I of the Income-tax Act has been amended by the Finance Act, 1990. The amendment replaces the requirement for taxpayers to submit their return of income to the Assessing Officer along with a separate written declaration. Instead, taxpayers are now required to declare the necessary information directly within their return of income for the relevant assessment year under section 139.
