of <h1>Finance Act 1988: New 10% Surcharge on Wealth-Tax for Assessment Year Starting April 1, 1988, per Section 66.</h1> In the Finance Act of 1988, an amendment to Schedule I of the Wealth-tax Act was made under Section 66. This amendment adds a provision at the end of Part I, introducing a surcharge on wealth-tax. For the assessment year beginning April 1, 1988, the wealth-tax amount, as computed under the existing provisions, is subject to an additional surcharge of ten percent.
