of <h1>Finance Act 1987 amends Income-tax Act section 54E; changes capital asset references and omits sub-sections.</h1> The Finance Act, 1987 amends section 54E of the Income-tax Act, effective April 1, 1988. The amendment replaces references to 'capital asset, not being a short-term capital asset' with 'long-term capital asset' in sub-sections (1) and (2). Additionally, sub-sections (3), (4), and (5) are omitted, and sub-section (6) is renumbered as sub-section (3). In the renumbered sub-section, references to clauses (a) and (b) of the former sub-section (3) are removed.
