Postal Rate Schedule revised: weight-based charges set for letters, cards, packets and registered newspapers with delivery conditions. Amendment revises the First Schedule of the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 to prescribe a weight based postal tariff for Letters and Letter cards with base weights and per increment charges; defines and fixes charges for Post cards containing printed communication; sets base and incremental rates for Book, Pattern and Sample packets; and restructures Registered Newspapers rates by weight bands, including a proviso requiring multi copy newspaper packets to be delivered to a recognised agent rather than to an addressee's residence.
