Commission powers to issue examinations for witnesses or documents enable cross-border and remote evidence facilitation under prescribed conditions. The Commission and the Director General may issue commissions to examine witnesses or documents when attendance is impracticable, including for specified categories of domestic witnesses and for witnesses abroad, may appoint a public servant or counsel as the commissioner to execute the commission, must provide limited records and instructions to the commissioner, and must set a return date for the executed commission with extensions only for recorded sufficient cause.
