Competency of spouses as witnesses clarified-parties and spouses admissible in civil cases; spouses competent in criminal trials. The statute provides that in civil proceedings the parties to the suit and the husband or wife of any party shall be competent witnesses, and that in criminal proceedings the husband or wife of the accused shall be a competent witness for that person.
