Admission by party: statements by a party or an authorised agent qualify as admissions when made with authority and interest. Admissions under Section 16 treat statements by a party or an agent authorised expressly or impliedly as admissions. Statements by those in a representative character are not admissions unless made while holding that character. Statements by persons with a proprietary or pecuniary interest, or by those from whom parties derived their interest, are admissions if made during the continuance of that interest.
