of <h1>Competition Act 2023 Update: Key Deadlines Shortened, New Procedures Introduced in Section 29 Effective September 2024</h1> The Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023 modifies section 29 of the principal Act by reducing various timeframes for actions by the Commission. Sub-section (1) changes the deadline from thirty to fifteen days. A new sub-section (1B) mandates the Commission to form a prima facie opinion within thirty days of receiving notice. Sub-section (2) revises deadlines to seven days. Sub-sections (3), (4), and (5) reduce deadlines to ten and seven days. Sub-section (6) is replaced, detailing the Commission's procedure after receiving information, and allowing for modifications to be proposed or accepted before forming an opinion. These changes take effect on September 10, 2024.
