of <h1>Amendment to Section 21: Statutory Authorities Can Now Independently Refer Issues to Commission Under Competition Act.</h1> Section 21 of the principal Act has been amended by the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023. The amendment replaces the existing proviso in sub-section (1) with a new proviso allowing any statutory authority to make a reference to the Commission on its own initiative. This reference can pertain to any issue involving provisions of the Act or related to promoting the Act's objectives. The amendment came into force on May 18, 2023, as per Notification No. S.O. 2228(E).
