Exporters Can Modify Conditions to Regain Preferential Treatment; Verification Visit Possible Within 45 Days Under Agreement Rules.
Where preferential treatment for a product is denied by the Customs Administration of an importing party, the exporter, producer, or manufacturer may modify manufacturing conditions to meet origin requirements. They must demonstrate these changes to the exporting party's competent authority, which will inform the importing party's authority. The importing party may request a verification visit within 45 days to confirm the changes. If validated, preferential benefits are restored. Disagreements on rule fulfillment may be referred to a Sub-committee under the Agreement for resolution.
