of <h1>Imprisonment Removed from Section 242; Fine Increased to One Lakh Rupees Under Companies (Amendment) Act 2020.</h1> Section 242 of the principal Act has been amended by the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2020. In sub-section (8), the provision for imprisonment for a term up to six months has been removed. Additionally, the penalty clause has been revised to impose a fine of one lakh rupees, eliminating the previous option of both a fine and imprisonment.
