Company name allotment: Central government may allot and Registrar must record a new corporate name after a company's non compliance.

Amendment shortens the compliance period in section 16(1) to three months and replaces sub section (3) to require that if a company defaults in complying with directions under sub section (1), the Central Government shall allot a new name in the prescribed manner and the Registrar shall enter the new name in the register and issue a fresh certificate of incorporation, which the company shall use thereafter, while preserving the company's ability to later change its name under section 13.
