Appeals to Securities Appellate Tribunal require a fee based on penalty amount, amended in 2005, replacing flat fee.
Every memorandum of appeal to the Securities Appellate Tribunal must include a fee, submitted via a crossed demand draft from a nationalized bank payable to 'The Registrar, Securities Appellate Tribunal' at the registry's location. The fee structure is based on the penalty amount: 500 for penalties under 10,000, 1,200 for penalties between 10,000 and 1 lakh, and 1,200 plus 500 for every additional 1 lakh of penalty, capped at 1,50,000. These provisions were amended in 2005, replacing a flat fee of 5,000.
