Offline verification of Aadhaar numbers requires consent, limited use of data, disclosures, and prohibits collection or storage of Aadhaar or biometrics. Section 8A regulates offline verification of Aadhaar numbers: entities must obtain an individual's (or child's guardian's) consent as prescribed, limit collected demographic or other information to verification purposes, and inform the individual about the nature of information shared, permitted uses, and available alternatives. Entities are prohibited from subjecting holders to authentication, and from collecting, using, or storing Aadhaar numbers or biometric information or acting contrary to regulatory obligations.
