Aadhaar authentication may be required to establish identity for receipt of government-funded subsidies, with alternate ID offered. The Central or State Government may require Aadhaar authentication or proof of Aadhaar number to establish identity as a condition for receiving subsidies, benefits or services funded from the Consolidated Fund; an individual without an assigned Aadhaar number may be required to apply for enrolment and must be offered alternate and viable means of identification for delivery of the subsidy, benefit or service.
