Fixed five-year tenure, age cap, bar on reappointment and compensation rules for Settlement Commission leadership roles
A person appointed as Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Member of the Settlement Commission holds office for five years or until attaining sixty-two years of age, whichever is earlier, with no right to reappointment. A serving Vice-Chairman or Member may be appointed as Chairman or Vice-Chairman, subject to the same overall five-year and age limits. Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Members must serve at least two years before taking any new assignment, though they may apply earlier. Persons holding these offices immediately before a specified notified date cease to hold office from that date and may claim compensation up to three months' pay and allowances for premature termination.
