Stock Brokers No Longer Required to Ensure Sub-Brokers' Registration with Board After Regulation 18B Omission in 2019
Regulation 18B of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Stock Brokers) Regulations, 1992, initially mandated that stock brokers could only engage with sub-brokers who had obtained a certificate of registration from the Board under sub-regulation (1) of Regulation 12. This provision was inserted by an amendment in 2003 and later omitted in 2018, effective from April 1, 2019, removing the requirement for stock brokers to ensure sub-brokers were registered with the Board.
