Regulation 11: Sub-Brokers No Longer Need New Certificate for Broker Changes or SME Platform Affiliations
Regulation 11 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Stock Brokers) Regulations, 1992, outlines the registration requirements for sub-brokers. It mandates that sub-brokers must hold a certificate granted by the Board to operate. A new certificate is not required if a sub-broker changes affiliation between stock brokers within the same exchange. Additionally, no new certificate is needed if a registered sub-broker affiliates with a broker eligible to trade on the SME platform, defined as a recognized exchange platform for listing securities under specific SEBI regulations. This regulation was omitted effective April 1, 2019.
