SEBI Regulation 20 empowers action based on inspection reports, ensuring compliance with 2008 Intermediaries Regulations.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Regulations, 1993, under Regulation 20, empower the Board or its Chairman to take appropriate actions based on inspection or investigation reports. This may include actions under Chapter V of the SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2008. Previously, the regulation required the Board to communicate findings to registrars or share transfer agents, allowing them an opportunity to respond before any action was taken. The Board could then mandate necessary measures to ensure compliance with securities market regulations. This provision was updated in 2002 to its current form.
