Regulation 11 Omission: SEBI Allows Debenture Trustees to Continue Activities with Conditions for Investor Protection
Regulation 11 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Debenture Trustees) Regulations, 1993, initially addressed the consequences for debenture trustees whose applications for certification or renewal were denied. The regulation stated that such trustees must cease their activities upon receiving notification of refusal. This provision was amended in 2011 and later omitted in 2016, with the latter amendment allowing the Board to permit ongoing activities under specific conditions to protect investors' interests.
