Regulation 8A Omission Affects Debenture Trustees' Permanent Registration Process; Applications Reviewed as New Within Three Months
Regulation 8A of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Debenture Trustees) Regulations, 1993, which was omitted in 2016, detailed the process for debenture trustees to obtain a certificate of permanent registration. Trustees with initial registration could apply for permanent registration three months before expiry, using Form A. Those with five-year registrations could also apply similarly. Applications required a non-refundable fee and updated information. The Board would review applications as if they were new, deciding within three months. Upon satisfaction of eligibility, the Board would grant permanent registration, subject to fee payment.
