SEBI's Regulation 65 Empowers Board to Act on Inspection Reports, Ensuring Investor Protection and Market Integrity.
Regulation 65 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996, authorizes the Board or its Chairman to take appropriate action based on inspection or investigation reports. This action may include measures under Chapter V of the SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2008. Initially, Regulation 65 required the Board to communicate findings to the mutual fund, trustee, or asset management company, allowing them an opportunity to respond. The Board could then require these entities to implement measures deemed necessary for investor protection, market integrity, and regulatory compliance. Subsequent amendments have refined these procedures.
