SEBI Regulation 25 Empowers Board to Restrict Market Access and Enforce Securities Compliance.
Regulation 25 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Buy Back of Securities) Regulations, 1998, grants the Board authority to issue directions in the interest of the securities market. This includes actions such as restricting individuals from dealing in securities, prohibiting the cancellation of securities bought back unlawfully, mandating the sale of improperly acquired securities, and taking measures against registered intermediaries. The Board can also prevent market access, demand disgorgement of illicit gains, and restrain companies from further buy-back offers. In cases of insider trading or market manipulation, individuals are subject to relevant SEBI regulations.
