Regulation 40 on Credit Rating Agencies' Suspension and Cancellation Omitted in 2002; Impact on Activities and Records.
Regulation 40 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Credit Rating Agencies) Regulations, 1999, previously outlined the effects of suspension and cancellation of a credit rating agency's registration. Upon suspension, the agency must halt all rating activities and comply with the Board's directives regarding its records and reports. Upon cancellation, the agency must cease all rating activities and follow directives regarding the transfer of its records. Despite suspension or cancellation, the Board may allow the agency to continue certain activities if deemed in the investors' interest. This regulation was omitted in 2002.
