of <h1>Constitutional Amendment Removes Presidential Power to Specify Backward Classes Under Article 338(10) Following Commission Reports</h1> The Constitution (102nd Amendment) Act, 2018 amends Article 338 of the Constitution by removing specific text from clause (10). The amendment deletes the phrase 'to such other backward classes as the President may, on receipt of the report of a Commission appointed under clause (1) of article 340, by order specify and also' from the original article. This modification alters the scope of Article 338's clause (10) by removing presidential authority to specify backward classes based on Commission reports under Article 340. The amendment came into effect on August 14, 2018.
