<h1>SEBI mandates enquiry under Chapter V of SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2008 before penalizing Foreign Venture Capital Investors.</h1> No order of penalty or cancellation of a certificate shall be imposed on a Foreign Venture Capital Investor by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) without conducting an enquiry. This enquiry must follow the procedure outlined in Chapter V of the SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2008. This regulation replaced the earlier procedure specified in the SEBI (Procedure for Holding Enquiry by Enquiry Officer and Imposing Penalty) Regulations, 2002, effective from May 26, 2008.
