All Alternative Investment Funds must register with regulator; limited transition, no fresh fundraising until registration, migration rules.
From commencement, no entity may operate as an Alternative Investment Fund without registration from the regulator; existing funds have limited transition periods, may seek exemptions, and cannot raise fresh monies except as permitted until registration. Venture capital funds remain regulated under prior rules until schemes wind up, with migration options and possible enhanced reporting. Funds must register by prescribed categories (Category I, II, III and specified funds), apply in the prescribed form with fees, and meet regulatory requirements. Registration remains valid until winding up. The regulator may direct transfer or disposal of records, appoint persons to take charge, and impose protective measures for investors.
